The Masquerade Theatre is a new Classical Theater Company based in Connecticut and New York.
We are committed to bringing classical theater to contemporary audiences in exciting and accessible ways and to amplifying the voices of artists in our communities!
The Masquerade Theatre
Founded by Lizzy Booth in 2022.
Lizzy’s love for Shakespeare lit a major fire behind her love for acting and the stage from the time she was eight years old, when she first had the opportunity to act in a production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Ever since then, Lizzy has performed in a multitude of Shakespeare’s plays and has directed and assistant directed several live productions. In 2022, Lizzy was inspired by the Virtual Theatre scene that arose during the pandemic to start a theatre group called The Masquerade Theatre, which would offer Virtual Productions via Zoom. That summer, Lizzy directed and produced The Masquerade Theatre’s first show: a “Masq’d Staged Reading.” The first Masq’d Staged Reading was Much Ado About Nothing: A Virtual Performance, followed the next summer by Twelfth Night: A Virtual Performance! This past August, the Masquerade Theatre put up its first full production in NYC at the Court Square Theater!
